The File menu holds everything to do with the company as a whole and with getting paper out of SeroBooks: opening another company, backing up and restoring, bringing your books across from QuickBooks Desktop, printing and emailing forms in batches, setting up printers, and signing out.

Opening the File menu

  • Click File on the menu bar at the top of the SeroBooks window, or rest the pointer on it for a moment and it drops down by itself.
  • Or press Alt+F (the F in File is underlined).
  • Press Esc to put the menu away without choosing anything.

Common problems

  • An item is missing from the menu. Your role cannot see the screen it opens. For example, Back Up Company… and Restore Company… are hidden from a role without Set Closing Date and Year-End, and Print Forms… and Send Forms… from a role without the Invoices list. Ask the person who manages users to give your role that screen (Set Up Users and Roles).
  • A permission window appears when you choose Printer Setup. Your role does not include printer setup. Someone whose role has it can approve, or your administrator can add it to your role.
  • Open Company says to wait. A card payment is still being recorded in this company. Wait a minute for it to finish, then try again.
