Software with a point of view
Sero Technologies is a Canadian company building two products on one conviction: business software should be fast, work offline, respect the keyboard, and keep books an accountant can sign.
Where SeroBooks came from
SeroBooks grew out of SeroPOS, our restaurant point of sale — years of tills, printers, rush hours and real merchants taught us how operational software must behave. When retail and wholesale customers kept asking for the same reliability with deeper books, we built the accounting platform we believed the category was missing: the till, the shelf and the ledger as one system.
What we refuse to do
Fabricate reviews. Hide pricing games in tiers. Claim features before they ship — this site marks early access as early access. Lock your data in. Treat Canadian tax as a localization checkbox. The honesty is not branding; it is the operating principle the product is built under.
Why one system instead of three
The standard way to run a Canadian store is a point-of-sale package, a spreadsheet or app for stock, and an accounting product the bookkeeper opens monthly — joined by connectors. Every gap between those systems is reconciliation work that creates no margin, plus a class of failure a single system cannot have: a sync that stops quietly, and a Tuesday where two systems disagree about Monday.
We took the harder path deliberately. In SeroBooks a counter sale is one transaction that is simultaneously a receipt, a stock movement, a receivable or a payment, and a posted double-entry journal. That is why there is no export step, and why the number your accountant reads is the number the till produced.
Built where the customers are
Canada is four sales-tax systems wearing one flag, and most software treats that as a localization checkbox. We treat it as the product: place-of-supply tax across all thirteen provinces and territories applied per line, combined rates split so each government's account gets its own share, PST resale exemptions on purchases in the provinces that allow them, GIFI codes for the T2, and CCA schedules with the half-year rule.
None of that is glamorous. All of it is what an accountant checks in the first ten minutes.
The family
SeroBooks — accounting that runs the whole business, for stores, wholesalers and sellers. SeroPOS — the restaurant point of sale, for kitchens and tables. Same platform, same company, two front doors.
What we ship, not what we plan
This is a real business in the product — a demo company with a quarter of trading in it, not a mockup. Every screenshot on this site was captured from the shipping application, which is the only kind of proof worth publishing.
Where something is not finished we say so on the page rather than in a footnote: Maya is in early access, live bank feeds are rolling out, and we do not run payroll. Competitor comparisons carry a date and name the cases where the other product is the better answer. A pitch nobody believes is worth less than no pitch at all.
