Reconcile like QuickBooks Desktop — with or without a feed

SeroBooks reconciles the way accountants actually learned it: your ledger's own entries on screen, the paper statement beside you, tick what cleared, and finish when the difference is exactly zero. A live bank feed is welcome — but never required. A CSV works. Paper works.

Two numbers on one row

The Banking screen shows the ledger's balance beside the bank's balance for each account — the whole discipline of reconciliation reduced to one visible comparison. The ledger records what the business says happened; the bank records what the money says happened. This is where they agree, and until they do, every other figure is a claim rather than a fact.

Import, review, reconcile and feed-check sit on the account row itself, so the monthly ritual starts from the screen that shows why it matters.

The shape bookkeepers actually learned

Reconciliation here is the QuickBooks Desktop shape, modernized: your own ledger entries on screen, the statement beside you, tick what cleared, finish at exactly zero. Work one statement period at a time and match it out completely — reconciling two periods at once is how differences get lost, and the screen is built for the honest sequence.

Service charges and interest are entered inside the rec, where you find them, so the session ends closed rather than 'nearly'.

Timing differences are not errors

Money taken today and banked tomorrow genuinely sits in a clearing account, not the bank — a deposit in transit, normal and self-clearing. The screen treats it as such rather than pushing you to force a match. And an unexplained difference is a finding: do not paper over it with an adjusting entry, because a forced match hides the problem and it comes back bigger at year end.

That guidance is in the product because reconciliation is a craft, and the software should coach it.

Feed optional, rules reusable

CSV import covers any bank on earth today, with reusable rules that classify recurring lines the same way every month; live feeds land in the same flow as they roll out, so nothing about your process changes when they arrive. The feed is just a faster importer — the engine is the reconciliation itself.

Undeposited funds → deposit → bank means your ledger shows the same single line the statement does, which is what makes ticking fast.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to connect my bank?

No. Reconciliation works from your own ledger against any statement — paper, PDF or CSV import. Live feeds are rolling out and slot into the same flow.

Who can reconcile?

It is a grantable permission, enforced by the server — reconciliation closes the books against a statement, so it is a controlled act.
