Sign in to your company with your email or staff username, stay signed in, reset a forgotten password and sign out.

☰ File ▸ Sign Out

You sign in to SeroBooks once on each computer. After that, SeroBooks opens straight into your company every time you start it, until you sign out. Each person who works in the books signs in under their own name, so SeroBooks knows what their role allows and records who did what.

The sign-in screen

Field or buttonWhat it does
Username (name@business) or emailThe owner of the company signs in with the email address the subscription was set up with. Staff sign in with the username the administrator gave them, which usually has the form name@business (for example anna@northstar). See Staff sign-in names.
PasswordYour password. The eye button at the right shows or hides what you type.
Remember meKeeps your username and password on this computer, in Windows' secure storage, so they are filled in next time and so Open Company can switch back to this company without asking for them.
Forgot Password?Opens Reset Password. See If you forget your password.
LOG INSigns you in.
Sign up on serobooks.appOpens the SeroBooks website, where new subscriptions are bought. SeroBooks accounts are not created inside the app.
Open Back OfficeOpens the SeroBooks website in your browser, where you can sign in to the web version of your back office.

Sign in, step by step

  1. Type your email address, or your staff username.
  2. Type your password.
  3. Tick Remember me if this is your own computer.
  4. Click LOG IN.
  5. SeroBooks shows Syncing Data… while it brings this computer's copy of your lists up to date, then opens on the Home Page.

The first sign-in on a computer downloads all your lists, so it takes longer: "Please wait while your data is being downloaded from the Cloud Server. It may take some time based on your internet connection." Later sign-ins fetch only what has changed.

Signing in as staff on a shared computer

After someone signs in with a name@business username, the sign-in screen on that computer offers the business part for the next person. Type just your name, and the field shows a chip reading @business beside it; hover over it to read "Signing in as name@business". If you are signing in to a different business, or with an email address, click the chip's cross ("Sign in without @business") and type your full login. Typing an @ of your own also turns the chip off.

Staying signed in

SeroBooks keeps you signed in when you close it. The next time you start it, it checks that the subscription is still active and opens straight into your company. You stay signed in until you choose Sign Out.

Sign out

  • Choose File ▸ Sign Out, or
  • open the left navigation panel (the ☰ button at the left of the dark bar) and click Logout.

SeroBooks returns to the sign-in screen. Your lists stay on this computer, so the next sign-in is quick.

Clear DB (sign out and remove this computer's copy)

The left navigation panel also has Clear DB. It asks Clear database & log out? — "This wipes all local data on this device and signs you out. Data on the server is not affected." Click Clear & Log out to go ahead. Use it when a computer is being handed to somebody else, or when support asks you to; the next sign-in downloads everything again.

If you forget your password

  1. On the sign-in screen, click Forgot Password?.
  2. On Reset Password, type the email address your account is registered with ("Enter your registered email address and we'll send you a link to reset your password").
  3. Click Send Reset Link.
  4. When you see Email Sent!, check your email and follow its instructions, then click Back to Login and sign in.

Staff who sign in with a name@business username and have no email address of their own should ask their administrator to set a new password for them under Company ▸ Set Up Users and Roles.
