The Favorites menu, between Lists and Company on the menu bar, holds the items you choose: the forms, lists, reports and commands you open most often, in the order you like. It starts empty, with only Customize Favorites… in it.

Favorites belong to this computer and your Windows user. Other people in your company keep their own.

Choose your favorites

  1. Choose Favorites ▸ Customize Favorites…. The Customize Your Menus window opens.
  2. On the left, AVAILABLE MENU ITEMS lists everything the menus can open, each with the menu it comes from (for example "Customers ▸ Create Invoices" or "Reports ▸ Company & Financial ▸ Profit & Loss Standard"). Type in Search… to narrow the list.
  3. Click an item, then click Add >. It moves to CHOSEN MENU ITEMS on the right. (You can also press and hold an item to add it.)
  4. To change the order, click an item on the right and click Move Up or Move Down.
  5. To take one off, click it on the right and click < Remove.
  6. Click OK to save. Cancel closes the window without changing anything.

Your chosen items now appear at the top of the Favorites menu, in that order, with a line and Customize Favorites… under them.

What can be a favorite

Every item on the other menus, except the Window menu's commands: forms such as Create Invoices and Enter Bills, lists, every report on the Reports menu, and commands such as Open Company, Printer Setup and Check for Updates. Headings and submenus themselves cannot be added; add the items inside them.

Good to know

  • A favorite you are not allowed to open is not shown in the menu, just as it is not shown in its own menu.
  • Opening the Favorites menu from the keyboard: press Alt+T (Alt+A saves the form in front, as in QuickBooks). For a keyboard route to any screen, use Ctrl+K. See Go To / Look Up.
