Comment on Report lets you write a note beside any figure on a report — ask the accountant about this, reclassify in January, includes the deposit for the new van — and keep the report with its notes. SeroBooks saves a copy of the report exactly as it read when you commented on it, so the notes always sit next to the figures they were written about, even after the books change.

Use it for month-end and year-end review, for questions you want to take to your accountant, and for reminders about figures that need correcting later.

Comment on a report

  1. Open the report, set its dates and filters, and make sure it shows what you want to comment on.
  2. Click Comment on Report on the toolbar (it is available once the report has lines). A page titled Comment on Report · *the report name* opens, showing a copy of the report with a small box beside every figure.
  3. Click the box beside a figure. The Add comment window shows the line and column (for example Office Supplies · Total) and the figure itself.
  4. Type your note in What to remember about this figure (up to 2,000 characters) and click OK.
  5. The box now carries a number, and the note appears in the Comments panel under the report, numbered in reading order (top to bottom, left to right).
  6. Add as many comments as you need, then click Save.
  7. In Save commented report, check the Name (it starts as the report name and its period, such as Profit & Loss Standard — 1 Jan 2026 – 30 Jun 2026) and click Save.

The message Saved. It is in Reports ▸ Commented Reports as "…". confirms it.

  • Every figure column has a comment box; the first column (the names) does not, and neither does an empty cell.
  • The Comments panel lists each note as [1] Line · Column: your note — who wrote it, date. Click a note to edit it.
  • To change a note, click its numbered box (or the note in the panel); the window is titled Edit comment. To delete it, click Remove comment.

The page's buttons

ButtonWhat it does
SaveThe first time: names and saves the commented report. Afterwards the button reads Save changes when you have changed a comment, and Saved (greyed) when there is nothing new to save.
PrintPrints the report with each commented figure marked with its number, such as 1,250.00 [3], and the numbered comments listed underneath with who wrote them. It goes to your document printer as any report does (see Print, export and email a report).
DeleteShown once the commented report is saved. Asks Delete "…"? — The copy of the report and every comment on it are deleted. The report itself is not touched.

Commented Reports

Reports ▸ Commented Reports lists every commented report kept by the company, newest changes first. Under each name you see how many comments it has (4 comment(s)), who made it (by and their name) and when it was last changed (last changed Sep 24, 2026).

Click one to open it. You can read, add, edit and remove comments, then Save changes, Print or Delete. Refresh reloads the list. If there are none yet the list says No commented reports yet.

Everyone in the company who can open reports sees the same Commented Reports list, and each comment keeps the name of the person who wrote it and when.
