App theme and colours

Choose the colour theme SeroBooks uses on this computer — the top bar, window title bars, buttons, selected tabs and page backgrounds all follow it.

☰ Menu ▸ App Theme

App Theme lets you choose the colours SeroBooks uses on this computer. The theme you pick recolours the top bar, the window title bars, buttons, selected tabs, table headings and page backgrounds — the whole desk — and the screens opened from the left menu (Admin, Settings and the others) take the same colours.

The theme is a personal, per-computer choice. It does not change anything in your books, on your printed forms, or on anyone else's computer.

Opening App Theme

  1. Click the Menu button (☰) at the far left of the top bar.
  2. Click App Theme.

App Theme is part of every SeroBooks plan and of the free trial, so it is always available.

The App Theme Settings screen

The screen is headed App Theme Settings.

How SeroBooks uses a theme

SeroBooks takes the theme's main colour and builds its own set of colours from it:

  • the top bar becomes a deep shade of the theme's colour;
  • buttons, selected tabs and window title bars use the theme's colour, darkened where needed so white text on it is always easy to read (pale themes such as Mauve Elegance, Turquoise Mint and Cream Vanilla are made darker for this reason);
  • page and table backgrounds use faint tints of the same colour;
  • cards and forms stay white.

SeroBooks always uses a light background, so a dark theme such as Stone Gray Dark gives you its colour on a light desk rather than a dark screen.

Tips

  • Pick a colour that is easy on your eyes for long sessions. The page backgrounds stay light whichever theme you choose.
  • Use the same theme on shared computers so everyone in the office recognises the screens.
  • The theme belongs to the computer, not to a company or a user: everyone who signs in on this computer sees the same theme.

Common problems

The colours changed on this computer only. That is by design: the theme is stored per computer.

I cannot find a dark mode. SeroBooks always uses light backgrounds; dark themes change the colour, not the background.
