The Window menu arranges the windows you have open and lets you jump to any of them. It works with View ▸ Multiple Windows, where every screen and form opens in a window of its own. As in QuickBooks Desktop, the menu ends with a numbered list of the open windows.
Opening the Window menu
- Click Window on the menu bar, or rest the pointer on it.
- Or press Alt+W.
The items, in order
| Item | What it does |
|---|---|
| Close All | Closes every open window. Each window with unsaved changes is brought to the front first and SeroBooks asks You have changed the transaction. — Discard changes closes it, Keep editing leaves it open. |
| Tile Vertically | Lays the open windows side by side in columns: up to three in one row, and a grid when there are more. |
| Tile Horizontally | Lays the open windows one above another in rows: up to three in one column, and a grid when there are more. |
| Cascade | Stacks the open windows diagonally, each a little lower and to the right of the one before, so every title bar shows. |
| (grey line) | |
| 1, 2, 3 … and each window's title | One line per open window, numbered in order. The window in front is ticked. Choose one to bring it to the front. |
Tile and Cascade arrange only the windows that are showing; minimised windows stay in the strip until you bring them back.
For more on moving, resizing, minimising and switching windows, see Windows: One Window, Multiple Windows and arranging them.
In One Window mode
In View ▸ One Window there is only ever one screen in front, so Close All, Tile Vertically, Tile Horizontally and Cascade are not shown. When there is nothing left to show on the Window menu, it is not on the menu bar at all.
