The Company Snapshot puts the whole business on one page, the way an owner or accountant wants to see it before a meeting: what is in the bank and on the credit cards, what customers owe and what you owe, how income and expenses have moved over the last twelve months, how this fiscal year compares with last, who your biggest customers and vendors are, and what needs doing. It reads the books — the same ledger your Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss read — so its figures agree with your financial statements.

How the figures are worked out
- Balances are as of today and come from the general ledger.
- An invoice's or bill's due date comes from its terms. When it has no due date, its date is used.
- Receivables and payables here use the same open-document lists as A/R Aging and A/P Aging, so they agree to the cent. See Customers & Receivables reports and Vendors & Payables reports.
Permissions
To open the Company Snapshot, your role needs to be able to view the Report Centre or Profit & Loss. Without either, the page shows You do not have permission to view this. Ask an administrator to grant it under Users & Roles. See Roles and permissions explained.
Tips
- Open the Snapshot at the start of each week, then work down Reminders from top to bottom.
- Compare the Previous year income comparison month by month before you set next year's budget. See Set Up Budgets.
- If a bank balance looks wrong, click Use Register and open that account's register to see every transaction behind it.
Common problems
The bank balance does not match my bank statement. The Snapshot shows the balance in your books, including cheques not yet cashed and deposits not yet cleared. Reconcile the account to see the difference.
A customer is missing from Top customers. Only the top five in the fiscal year to date are shown. Run Sales by Customer Summary for everyone. See Sales reports.
The period is the wrong year. The period starts in the first month of your fiscal year. Check it in Company Information or Preferences.
