Cheques, printed and tracked to the day they clear
Plenty of Canadian business still runs on cheques — so SeroBooks treats them properly: print from the payment, track the float of outstanding cheques, and handle post-dated ones as what they are: future money.
What you get
Cheques get their own truth
A cheque settles days after it is written — money you have 'taken' is not money you have, and a post-dated cheque is a promise with a date on it. The Cheques register keeps that truth visible: received, paid out, and post-dated in either direction, with totals for each.
For a business that still trades on paper — and much of Canadian wholesale does — this page is the difference between the bank balance and the truth.
Both directions, one register
Cheques taken from customers and cheques written to suppliers share the register, each carrying its party, the document or account it settled, the location and the amount. Filters cut to received, paid out, or a date window; post-dated items surface so nothing dated next month is mistaken for money today.
Cheques written in a payment run land here automatically, numbered in sequence.
Reconcile against the bank, not the till
The gap between this page and your bank statement is exactly the uncleared cheques — which is the point. Compare here rather than against the drawer, and the float stops being mysterious.
Recording a cheque as cash loses the post-dated tracking and makes the drawer count wrong — so the till makes the right method the easy path everywhere money is taken.
Frequently asked questions
Do cheques complicate bank reconciliation?
The opposite — because outstanding cheques are tracked, the reconciliation knows exactly why the ledger and the statement differ.
