The SeroBooks Knowledgebase explains every screen, menu, form and report in SeroBooks. It is built into the app, so it is always there and always matches the version you are running.

The front page

  • Search bar at the top. Type a few words about what you want to do ("record a customer payment", "undo reconciliation", "GST return") and the results list the matching articles, each with its one-line summary. Searches match article titles, summaries, keywords and text, including QuickBooks names and everyday words, so "bill a customer" finds Create Invoices and "Write Checks" finds Write Cheques.
  • Category tiles below it: Getting Started, Company & Home, Customers & Sales, Vendors & Purchases, Items & Inventory, Banking, Accounting, Sales Tax, Reports, Employees & Payroll, Amazon, Lists, Files, Printing & Data, Administration, Menu Reference, and Troubleshooting & FAQ. Each tile has a one-line summary.

A category page

A category page lists its articles in sections, in the order you would read them. For example, Customers & Sales has sections for the Customer Centre, estimates and sales orders, invoicing, getting paid, and time and costs. Click an article to open it.

An article

Every article follows the same pattern:

  • The title and a one-line summary.
  • Where to find the screen: its menu path, and its keyboard shortcut when it has one.
  • Open this screen — opens the screen the article describes, with the same permission checks as the menu. A screen with a window of its own (Create Invoices, the Invoices list) opens in that window; a page or form (Bill Tracker, Preferences, Write Cheques) opens on top of the article, and Esc brings you back to the article. It is shown when the article is about a screen.
  • An opening paragraph saying what the screen is for, then step-by-step instructions, a table of every field and button, what happens in the books, Common problems and tips.
  • QuickBooks users notes where SeroBooks differs from, or matches, QuickBooks Desktop.
  • Related articles at the end.

Links inside an article open the article they name. Headings inside a long article can be linked to directly.

Tips for finding things

  • Search in your own words. You do not need the exact screen name.
  • Use the QuickBooks name if you know it. See QuickBooks names and SeroBooks names.
  • Look up a term you are not sure of in the Glossary.
  • Read the FAQ for the area you are working in: Troubleshooting & FAQ has answers to the questions people ask most.
  • Ask Maya when the question is about your own figures ("which customers owe me the most?"). The Knowledgebase explains how SeroBooks works; Maya reads your books. See Ask Maya.
