Team Chat lets the people who work in your company's books message one another inside SeroBooks: a question about a bill, a screenshot of a report, a file for the accountant. It opens as a panel over whatever you are doing, so a conversation never costs you your place in a form.
Team Chat is for people inside your company. To get help from SeroBooks itself, email support@seropos.app; to ask about your figures, use Maya.
Opening Team Chat
- Click Chat in the dark bar at the top of the screen, or
- choose Help ▸ Team Chat.
The Chat button carries a red count of unread messages (up to 99+). It appears only once SeroBooks knows chat is switched on for you; if you never see it, ask your administrator.
The panel slides in from the right. Close it with its Close button or Esc.
Your conversations
The panel first lists your conversations, each with the other person's name (or the number of people, for a group), the latest message and when it was sent. Unread conversations stand out. With none yet, it says "No conversations yet. Start one with the pencil above."
- Click a conversation to open it.
- All chats (the back arrow) returns to the list.
- New chat (the pencil) lists your colleagues who have chat. Click one to start or reopen your conversation with them. If nobody else has chat, SeroBooks says "Nobody else in this business has chat switched on yet."
Sending a message
- Open the conversation.
- Type in Message at the bottom.
- Press Enter or click the send button.
In the message box:
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Emoji | A small set of emoji to insert. |
| Attach a file | Choose a file from this computer to send. |
Sending a screenshot
Copy a screenshot (for example with Windows' Win+Shift+S), click in the message box and press Ctrl+V. SeroBooks does not send it at once: it shows Screenshot ready to send — "Add a note if you like, then press Enter." Type a note if you want, then press Enter. Discard throws the screenshot away. This pause is deliberate: a screenshot can show anything that was on your screen, and a sent message cannot be recalled from the other person's memory.
Working with messages
Messages are grouped under Today, Yesterday or a date. Right-click (or press and hold) a message for:
| Action | What it does |
|---|---|
| Copy | Copies the text. |
| Reply | Quotes the message in your reply ("Replying to name"). |
| Edit | Your own messages only. The message shows edited afterwards. |
| Delete for everyone | Your own messages only. The message is replaced by Message withdrawn for everybody. |
Attachments show as a picture or a file chip. Click one to open it on this computer; the save button beside it (Save a copy) asks where to save it, starting in your Downloads folder.
How up to date it is
While a conversation is open, new messages appear within a few seconds. With the panel closed, the unread count on the Chat button is checked about every half minute.
Messages you may see
| Message | Meaning |

| Could not load chats. / Could not load these messages. | The server could not be reached. Check your connection; the panel tries again. |
| Message not sent. / That file was not sent. / That image was not sent. | Sending failed. Try again. The server may also say why (for example, a file that is too large). |
