A QuickBooks Point of Sale alternative for retail stores
Intuit discontinued QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale on 3 October 2023. If your store ran on it, SeroBooks gives you a till, inventory and full accounting in one system, so a sale at the counter is in your books the moment it happens.
Counter sales in the books
Each sale posts revenue, tax, stock and payment in one step.
Card payments
Integrated card terminals, or record payments from a standalone card machine.
Store inventory
Barcodes and labels, serials, batches, bins and transfers between stores.
Customers on account
Credit limits at the counter, statements and payment reminders.
One system for the store
A separate point-of-sale program has to send its sales to the accounting program. When the two disagree, somebody has to work out which one is right. In SeroBooks there is only one record: the counter sale is the ledger entry, the stock movement and the payment at the same time.
For restaurants and very busy counters, SeroPOS — our point-of-sale app — posts to the same books, so the owner sees one set of numbers.
Inventory the way a store needs it
Print barcode labels from your own designs, straight to a label printer. Track serial numbers and batches with expiry. Move stock between stores with an in-transit step, count it with a scanner, and see stock at every location while you sell.
Change Item Prices updates selling prices across your list, and the tills pick up the new prices.
Accounting that keeps up
Daily takings post as one journal. Deposits move money from Undeposited Funds to the bank. Bank reconciliation finishes at zero with or without a bank feed. Sales tax is worked out per line for every province.

Frequently asked questions
Is QuickBooks Point of Sale still sold?
No. Intuit discontinued QuickBooks Desktop Point of Sale on 3 October 2023, according to its own help article. Existing copies can keep running, without new updates.
Can I bring my products and customers?
Yes. Products and customers import from spreadsheets, and SeroBooks can read a QuickBooks Desktop company directly, with a dry run first.
Which card terminals work?
SeroBooks works with integrated card terminals, and a standalone card machine also works — you record the payment method at the counter. Ask us which terminals are available in your area.
Does it print receipts and labels?
Yes. Receipts, invoices and packing slips print on your printers, and barcode labels print to a label printer at exact size.
