The Payment Method List is the set of ways money changes hands in your business: Cash, Card, Cheque, Other, and up to seven methods of your own such as "E-Transfer", "Wire" or "Gift Card". The methods switched on here are the buttons you choose from when you receive a payment, pay a bill, or pay a bill as you enter it.
Opening it
- Lists ▸ Customer & Vendor Profile Lists ▸ Payment Method List.
- Edit ▸ Preferences ▸ Payments ▸ Payment Method List.
The window is titled Payment Methods — Methods shown on the payment screen for this location. The settings belong to the location this computer is signed in to.

Add or change methods, step by step
- Turn on the switch of each method you use; turn off the ones you do not.
- To add your own, choose Add Custom Payment Method, type the name and choose Add.
- To rename a custom method, type over its name.
- Choose Save Payment Methods.
Nothing is saved until you choose Save Payment Methods.
Where the methods appear
- Enter Bills ▸ Payment, Pay Bills ▸ PAID BY and paying a single bill: the switched-on methods. In SeroBooks a card method appears as Debit and Credit, and a bank transfer as Bank / e-Transfer.
- Receive Payments and sales forms: the methods you can be paid by.
- The payment method decides which account the money goes to or comes from by default; that mapping is set in Accounting Setup.
A method switched off here stays on documents already saved with it.
Permissions
Opening the list needs the Payment Methods administration right. See Roles and permissions explained.
Common problems
"No location configured on this device yet." This computer is not set to a location. Sign out and back in, choosing the location.
A method is missing from Pay Bills. It is switched off for this location. Switch it on and save.
