Every reconciliation you complete is kept. Previous Reconciliation lists them for one account and opens the report of any of them — the Summary, the full Detail of what cleared and what was still outstanding, or what has Changed since. From the same list you can undo a reconciliation, which releases the transactions it cleared so the statement can be reconciled again.

Opening Previous Reconciliation

  • Reports ▸ Banking ▸ Previous Reconciliation. SeroBooks first asks you to specify the account: it lists your bank and credit card accounts, each with its type, the last digits of the account number if recorded, and last reconciled date. Click the account.
  • On Banking ▸ Reconcile (Begin Reconciliation), Locate Discrepancies or Undo Last Reconciliation opens the history of the account shown.
  • On Banking ▸ Bank Feeds, Reconciled opens the history of every account together.

The reconciliation history

The page Reconciliation history lists every sign-off for the account, newest first.

ColumnWhat it means
Statement dateThe statement's closing date.
AccountThe account reconciled.
Statement balanceThe ending balance the reconciliation was signed off against.
Cleared balanceWhat the books' cleared transactions came to at sign-off.
Statussigned off, or undone for one that was taken back.
ReportOpens the report.
UndoTakes the reconciliation back. Only on signed-off rows.

Back returns to where you came from. An undone reconciliation stays on the list, marked undone, with the reason given.

The report

Report opens Previous Reconciliation for that statement, headed with the account and period ending date. Choose the view at the top:

Detail

The same structure, with every transaction listed under its heading, in QuickBooks' layout:

ColumnWhat it means
TypeThe kind of transaction.
DateIts date.
NumIts number.
NameThe payee or customer.
ClrX for a cleared transaction. For an uncleared one, \* means it has been changed since the reconciliation was completed.
AmountThe amount.
BalanceThe running balance.

"Uncleared" means as it stood on the statement date: a cheque that cleared on a later statement was still outstanding then, so it is listed here.

Changed since

The cleared transactions that have been changed since this reconciliation was completed. See Reconciliation Discrepancy. When nothing has changed it says Nothing cleared in this reconciliation has been changed since.

Double-click any transaction in the Detail or Changed since view to open it. PDF produces the Reconciliation Detail as a printable page, laid out as QuickBooks prints it.

Undo a reconciliation

Undo when a statement was signed off against the wrong ending balance, the wrong date, or with the wrong transactions ticked.

  1. Open the account's reconciliation history.
  2. Choose Undo on the reconciliation.
  3. SeroBooks explains that every transaction it cleared goes back to uncleared, the account is open for that period again, and nothing is deleted — the reconciliation stays on the list marked undone, with your reason.
  4. Type Why (required; for example "Signed off against the wrong statement").
  5. Choose Undo it.

After undoing:

  • The transactions that reconciliation cleared are released. They are still ticked, so when you reconcile that statement again you start where you left off rather than from nothing.
  • The account's last reconciled date and balance step back to the reconciliation before it, so the next Beginning Balance is right.
  • Any service charge or interest that was posted when it was completed stays posted.

If you need to undo several months, undo the latest first and work backwards, then reconcile them again in date order.

Permissions

Viewing the history and reports needs access to the Banking screens. Undoing needs Undo a Reconciliation, which the standard Bookkeeper role does not have.
