Consolidated Day gives one sales total for the whole company for one day, when your locations are in different time zones. A location in British Columbia and one in Ontario have Mondays that are three hours apart, so adding up each location's own "Monday" does not give one well-defined company day. This screen measures every location's sales against the same clock, midnight to midnight UTC (Coordinated Universal Time), so the company's day has one start and one end.
It is the only figure in SeroBooks worked out in UTC. Every other daily report, day-end summary and tax period still uses each location's own local time, and is not affected by this screen.
Opening it
Choose Reports ▸ Sales ▸ Consolidated Day. It opens on yesterday's UTC date, because today's UTC day is still running in the western time zones.
When your locations share one clock
If every location in your business is in the same time zone, the screen says so: "Every location in this business keeps the same clock, so the consolidated day is simply the sum of the daily reports you already run." There is nothing to consolidate, and your daily sales reports already answer the question. Each location uses its own time zone, or the business's time zone when the location has none set; see Business and location settings. Two time zones that keep the same clock all year (for example two spellings of Eastern time) count as one.
Reading the screen
The heading reads Consolidated Day with "Every store, one clock · date UTC".
| Part | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Date button | The UTC day shown. Press it to pick another day ("Pick a UTC day"); you cannot pick a day after today. |
| Refresh | Reads the figures again. |
| The company | The company's total for the day, with the number of documents and locations. "Midnight to midnight UTC. Each store contributed the sales it rang inside that window, whatever its own clock said at the time." |
| What each store contributed | One row per location. |
The location table
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Store | The location. |
| Timezone | The location's time zone. |
| Documents | How many sales it made in the UTC day. |
| Contributed | Its sales in the UTC day, less any credit memos (refunds) in the same window, including tax. |
The rows add up to the company figure. They will not match each location's own daily sales report, and are not meant to: a location's day and the company's day are different windows of time. For a location's takings and its sales tax, keep using its own daily reports. The table can be exported like other lists.
If nothing was sold anywhere in the company in that UTC day, the table says "Nothing was rung anywhere in the company on date UTC."
What it cannot see
Only sales that carry a UTC time stamp can be placed in a UTC day. For days before that stamp was recorded, an amber note says from what date the figures are complete, and the screen does not guess for earlier days.
What it counts
Final sales (invoices and sales receipts) and credit memos, at their totals including tax, with credit memos subtracted. Estimates, sales orders, drafts and pending documents are not counted. The screen reads only; it changes nothing in your books.
Common problems
The company total does not equal the sum of the stores' daily reports. That is expected when your locations are in different time zones: the windows differ. Compare a store's Contributed figure only with other Consolidated Day figures.
The screen says every location keeps the same clock, but they don't. Check each location's time zone in Business and location settings.
