What Desktop users actually valued
Talk to a bookkeeper who resists the Online migration and the reasons are consistent: it is fast, it works without internet, the keyboard drives everything, and the data sits on a machine they control. None of these are nostalgia — they are operational requirements that web apps mostly cannot meet.

The real options
Move to QuickBooks Online and accept the trade (huge ecosystem, browser-only reality). Move to Sage 50 and buy another decade of the same generation.
